Case Study

Scenarios for Indian food and retailing

The Client

A leading food company

The Issue

This multinational was seeking to expand its presence in India and required a framework for planning its investments.

The Approach

Drawing on a wide range of experts, our Strategic Analysis practice developed medium- and long-term scenarios for India’s food sector. We considered the evolution of the political and economic environment, and the development of the food and retailing sector. The scenarios identified potential risks and opportunities for the client.

In a second phase, we helped the client use the scenarios to develop a strategy that was sufficiently robust and flexible to adapt to future outcomes.

The Result

The client used the scenario planning process as the basis for undertaking investments in India.
